I am a Lucasfan. Like so many others, my life changed when I saw Star Wars in 1977. I was seven years old. I didn’t even fully understand what I had just seen. The amazing thing is, after all these and all of my viewings, I’m still learning things from Star Wars. And the man behind it, the maker himself, George Lucas, has opened up my world with his little space fantasy, and the rest of his body of work.

I am a Lucasfan because I believe there is an energy field that connects us. Maybe not in the literal way that the Force does, but in a spiritual, existential way. And I believe we can affect that energy field in both positive and negative ways, and that the way we affect it also affects others. I believe that if we were all less selfish, the world would be in balance. I believe that hope and fear are the two most powerful forces in the universe and that those two things influence all of our other emotions and actions.
I am a Lucasfan because I believe that even the smallest and the most annoying among us can have a part to play in the greater scheme of things. I believe that even if you’re eight feet tall and covered in fur and no one can understand you, you can still have a positive influence on others.
I am a Lucasfan because I believe in the importance of understanding why things happened the way they happened in history. And it’s important to understand how our emotions and our hopes and fears have shaped our beliefs and the direction of civilizations.
In summary, I’m not just a fan of Star Wars, or Indiana Jones, or Willow, or American Graffiti. I’m a fan of almost every story George Lucas has been involved with. So call me a shill, or a fanboy or whatever. But if you’re a Lucasfan like me, I’ll be delving into the stories, and themes, and inspirations of George Lucas. Because I appreciate the world of entertainment and insight and education that he has created. His influence on the world cannot be ignored and should not be forgotten.
May the Force be with you.
